The mission of the Foundation's projects related to the perpetuation of the historical heritage of Russia in sculptural compositions is to preserve for future generations the memory of the outstanding achievements of the predecessors which the country is proud of.
In January 2015, a memorial sign was erected in the Peter and Paul Fortress in honour of the alpinists-defenders of besieged Leningrad. Intensive bombing of the city began since the first days of the blockade, and the iconic architectural dominants of the northern capital - the gilded spiers of the Peter and Paul Fortress and the Admiralty, the shining domes of cathedrals were used by the enemy aircraft as landmarks for targeting. Alpinists participated in camouflaging, tarping spiers, roofs and domes or covering them with camouflage paint.
